objectives:-
Construction and Maintenance of Cement Concrete roads are taken up by the Department utilizing the amount allocated under this sector during every financial year.
Type of Construction:
Cement concrete roads having an average width of 3 meters constructed in these islands. Resurfacing of these roads are done as and when found necessary.
Road layout:
All the inhabited islands are having ring roads around the island which are linked by cross roads.
Achievements:-
All the inhabited islands are having C.C. Roads. Details of roads constructed in each island are as follows.

Proposals
:-
It is proposed to widen
M.G.Road at Kavaratti to 8 meters width for which action is on hand to
acquire land. Similarly it is proposed to widen roads in major islands
Androth, Minicoy in a phased manner. All
main roads shall have water supply line, sewage pipe lines, telephone,
electric cables etc on either side of roads.
